When trying to figure out the artist I wanted to become, I had to jump through a lot of personal hurdles. Coming from a place where art was not prominent and a split family, I found it challenging to find my way. I always knew I wanted to be an artist, but I wanted to make sure that whatever I worked on, whether that be a film or photography, I would want to do the story justice. By doing so, I would create this piece of art that the audience would learn from and also enjoy. There are so many stories out there that mean a lot to me and being able to tell them as a filmmaker is one of the highest honors I could receive. Being able to do so successfully is another challenge that I have tried to take on alone when in reality that just won't work. Working with so many different crews has taught me lessons not only in our industry but in life, as being able to firsthand watch everyone do their part and get emotionally attached to what we were creating has been truly a blessing in disguise. I made friends and felt part of a tight nit family that had my back. How the trust we build in people can be used in so many different ways for good and bad, and how we as a whole could do so much better. When I first started this process I thought we would be the ones teaching the audience about our story, but in reality, as I went the story itself taught me some of life's most important lessons, lessons that I as a filmmaker and a person will never forget.
